Let’s Get This Party Started…

I am so enjoying this time off from school–time to relax, to be with my family, to travel a little (we just spent the weekend in Chicago, which is a new favorite place of ours), and to think.  I’ll admit that I think a little too much about school when I’m away from it, but hey–it’s hard not to when that’s where you spend so much of your time!

In this last week I have before I get back into the daily grind again, I hope to spend reading and reflecting, look both back and forward to what is to come in the new year.  And one piece of that “reading” part happens for me on Twitter (and I KNOW I’ve mentioned that here before, so instead of telling you any more about it, I’ll just share a tweet I just found that I loved. 🙂 ).

And so as I get this last week of break underway, let’s get this party started–as I hope that I’ll have many other posts to share with you soon. 🙂

    • I just embedded it into my post. If you click on the “more” at the end of a tweet, you can copy the code to embed it into your own post. Then you’d just click on the “text” tab when you’re writing and paste it there. When you go back to the “visual” part, it will show up. Does that make sense? You could always take a screenshot and insert it as a picture, which on my Mac I do with shift+command+4. And yes, Christmas break is FABULOUS!! Good luck on your running resolutions, by the way! I’m still trying to decide if I want to join you…:)

      • Yes, you need to join us!!!!!!! So what if you don’t make it? You will still have pushed yourself a little farther probably! That’s the wisdom that’s coming out of my brain anyway. 🙂

And I did NOT know that the embed code (which I’ve used to link back in people’s giveaways) could be put in the text part of a post!! Voila! I have learned something new! I might just have to do that with my next post. 🙂

        • You know, you’re absolutely right! And do you remember that I told you last year that we’d meet in person when we both ran the Disney Half in February 2014? HA!! That will not be happening on this end. Are you doing it again? It’s still on my “someday” list, for sure, but not the “this year” list.

          • The only half marathon I’ll probably ever run again is a fractional one. Run half one day and the other half another. 🙂 I thought I was going to die from miles 10-13. Mile 13 lasted for 71 days. When I sat down after the race in the resting area, I almost couldn’t get back up. My husband had to REALLY take care of me for the next few hours. I almost couldn’t wash my hair-needed someone to hold my arms up. HAHAHAHA. BUT-I didn’t train properly or hydrate/eat correctly. Lesson learned!

          • But how many half-marathons have the rest of us even tried to run?? Well at least for me the answer is ZERO! I admire that you tried! And you finished! That line “mile 13 lasted for 71 days” is FABULOUS, by the way. 🙂

  1. Jen,
I’m so glad you are enjoying your break. I’m bummed- I go back Thursday. I know it’s only 2 days, but there’s something mentally killing me about having to go back so soon. I’m not ready!

I just got some emails about EdCamp and thought of you.

Let’s connect soon. Enjoy the rest of your break.

    Happy New Year,
    Jen

    • Jen,

Ha–that’s funny when you write to someone with your same name. Makes me feel a little bit schizophrenic, you know?

But really–I know what you mean about Thursday. Grant has to start then, and believe me I am taking those two days as a HUGE GIFT. I hope to live them up, since so many others can’t. 🙂

I was just thinking of Edcamp yesterday and was hoping I’d see you there. It’s kind of our anniversary now, you know? 🙂

And yes–this meeting keeps getting postponed. Didn’t we last say that we would get together over this break? It’s not too late, you know. Let me know if you’re free before you go back. I can be flexible.

Love your new blog, by the way. I’ll have to leave you a comment there though, instead of just reading and admiring to myself. I hate it when people do that. 😛

      I’ll see you soon!
      Jen

  2. I am also ready to get the party started! I find myself getting a little antsy and anxious as the days of break go by. I really like the quote you posted. I have to tell you , it has been a really fun month or so as Bridget has “discovered,” the Percy Jackson series. Oh my goodness….. she brought the first five with her to her grandmas last week. She dips in and out of them at different times and is researching Greek mythology constantly. I remember the same feeling when I discovered the Little House series when I probably her age. Isn’t find THE SERIES the best feeling? It’s like making new friends or finding long lost family members that you really, REALLY like!

    • Did you read The Babysitters’ Club when you were younger? I remember how I used to run through all of those and then rush to get the next one so I could keep up with what was going on. And of course I wanted to start a business of my own, too! Riley’s not reading them for himself quite yet, but we’re lovers of Magic Tree House around here. 🙂

What's on your mind?
