A Few Math Nuggets

Hello again, friends!

Ok, so I’m open to any and all readers/comments, but this one is especially for my 5th grade (or any other student) readers!  Think about our Math Warm Up today, and answer these questions:

1.  Write the number 143, 674, 998 in expanded and word form.

2.  Round that number 143, 674, 998 to the nearest 10, 100, 1,000 and 10,000.

Comment with your answers!  🙂

  1. In Algebra “expanded form” means all of the prime factors. What does it mean in 5th grade? I’m totally going to give this to my Algebra classes tomorrow. Can’t wait to compare results.

  2. Since you see the other responses before you comment, only the first few commenters have a chance of having an “original” answer because all other responses are derivatives of the previous. Kind of like how no president has a chance of being “better” than George Washington/Abe Lincoln, and no bands can ever be “better” than the Beatles. (And no composers better than Mozart/Beethoven to throw one more example in there.) 🙂

  3. 1. 100,000,000+ 40,000,000+ 3,000,000+ 600,000+70,000+4,000+900+90+8
    2. 0ne hundred forty-three million, six hundred seventy-four thousand, nine hundred ninety-eight
    3.140,000,000
